Project evaluation

Evaluating how well my projects have met their objectives is integral to successful project planning. I will analyze what I have developed and what I still need to improve to lead me to the next step. In addition, I will discover the advantage and drawbacks points of the term three project.

When I was deciding on the theme of ZINE, I wanted my projects to be different ideas from other people to not overlapped. Before I decided on how to approach the concept theme of SELF, I created a brainstorming idea of Self and me as SDS. It helped me interpret myself, and when I look back, I still can’t believe I’m where I am today. I have studied abroad since I was 14years old, and this experience built my life skills and became more independent. Therefore, I came up with self-reliance, self-aggrandizing, and self-opinionated. However, I decided self-motivation be my theme because the word, motivation, is best to verbalize myself or my life. When I reflect on life, I felt living in a country where I speak no first language requires me that it is essential to control my motivation. I think I am the only person who knows me most through that. My task was how I could reflect these emotions on the concept. When I analyze the word, motivation, I think it can be anything, and each person has different subjects that come from their motivation. Therefore, it was hard to express the concept I wanted to work on for my project. However, if I take a different perspective, I can make my ZINE which is relatable to the viewers. I decided to indicate the moment when people lose motivation but also show when people get motivated. I take the word motivation to express physically, such as using photos of models posing as productive or undermotivated. As I said, the outcomes I set at the beginning of the term were slightly different, but I think I still achieved my ideas of the story effectively. On the other hand, there were some challenges. One of them was how I could communicate with viewers and find the best way to tell the massage behind the concept.

The starting point that helped develop my ZINE was when I researched and saw other people’s ZINE work. Some unique concepts and even the layout that have unified the all ZINE inspired me a lot. It also reminds me to think about what I have to work on for my project to appeal to the PR and Communication pathway. I have learned about myself through this project, which is that I like to create content and original story. I like to converse with people through my own world or story and explain my thinking. I think this can be my strength. Overall, I manage my time quite well than before in term 3. At the beginning of the course, I had less confidence in myself because everyone was talented, and some artworks amazed me.

On the other hand, I haven’t learned any editing or design skills. In addition, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. Especially when I can’t think of any ideas; however, if I think positively, there should have something I have that people haven’t. Eventually, I was able to express myself through my work. However, I think my weakness is still my editing skill. Even though the photos themselves are good enough, I think it will waste the original photos depending on the editing. I like the simple style because it helps stand out the main subjects. In my opinion, It is essential for PR.

For my future direction, I think my portfolio reflects well in PR and communication. Mainly, I spent time creating a PR package. I am still not convinced about some of the works, such as using Sketch Up to create 3D modelling for the event. It was my first time using it, so everything was new for me. Moreover, fashion is an incredibly visual industry, which makes quality images one of the most impactful ways to make a solid first impression among the fashion press. Therefore, I think the skills that I need to further develop for my future studies are If I have an incredible story behind a brand or, in this case, in my ZINE concept, I need to highlight it. The reason is that If I show the “why” behind the brand or the concepts that separate them from the competition and then I will be able to grow a business.
